Accessibility Policy
Our commitment to accessibility under the AODA
Statement of Commitment
H2O Amenity Group is committed to providing accessible services to all individuals, including persons with disabilities, in a manner that respects their dignity and independence. We are committed to meeting the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and its associated standards, as well as the Ontario Human Rights Code.
Accessible Customer Service
We are committed to providing accessible customer service to people with disabilities. This means that we will provide services to people with disabilities with the same quality and timeliness as others. We welcome people with disabilities to use their own personal assistive devices when accessing our services and facilities.
Communication
We will communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take into account their disability. We will train our staff on how to interact and communicate with people with various types of disabilities.
Assistive Devices
We are committed to serving people with disabilities who use assistive devices to obtain, use, or benefit from our services. We will ensure that our staff are trained and familiar with various assistive devices that may be used by customers with disabilities while accessing our services.
Service Animals and Support Persons
We welcome people with disabilities who are accompanied by a service animal on the parts of our premises that are open to the public. We will also ensure that all staff are properly trained in how to interact with people with disabilities who are accompanied by a service animal or support person.
Integrated Accessibility Standards
Information and Communications
We are committed to meeting the communication needs of people with disabilities. Upon request, we will provide information and communications in accessible formats or with communication supports. We will consult with the person making the request to determine the suitability of the accessible format or communication support.
Employment
H2O Amenity Group is committed to fair and accessible employment practices. We will notify employees and the public about the availability of accommodations for applicants with disabilities during the recruitment process. We will consult with applicants and employees to provide or arrange for the provision of suitable accommodation in a manner that takes into account the person's accessibility needs.
Website Accessibility
We are committed to ensuring our website meets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA standards as required by the AODA. Our ongoing efforts include:
- Using semantic HTML to ensure proper document structure and navigation
- Providing alternative text for images
- Ensuring sufficient colour contrast for text and interactive elements
- Making all interactive elements accessible via keyboard navigation
- Using ARIA labels where appropriate to enhance screen reader compatibility
- Designing responsive layouts that work across devices and assistive technologies
Training
H2O Amenity Group will provide training on the AODA, the Ontario Human Rights Code, and accessibility-related topics to all employees and volunteers who deal with the public or third parties on our behalf, as well as those involved in developing our policies, practices, and procedures. Training will be provided during onboarding for new employees and on an ongoing basis as changes are made to our policies and procedures.
